What I’m Reading

Much of my job is to wade through a sea of information to find the relevant gems….  and sometimes members and especially the Board of Directors ask, “What do you read?”  Thanks to my trusty iPad, I was forced to confront the different sources of information and hone down the process – and now you have access to the blogs, feeds, websites and searches that I monitor for relevant content.  Google reader makes this all possible, nicely sorted in “bundles” by topics.  Enjoy!  Note: If you use Google Reader or an RSS feed reader, you can subscribe to the whole bundle, or link directly to the one news source you like and subscribe individually.

Successful Leaders Do 15 Things Automatically

The Most Successful Leaders Do 15 Things Automatically, Every Day. From Forbes online I loved this article for the sheer simplicity of the suggestions …  and I don’t think it’s just about being a “great leader” but about how to work well with others to advance a common cause.  And, that in turn makes you a great leader, or colleague or boss or employee.  It’s an aim worth pursing and each of the 15 suggestions are simple, easy to employ and needed at different times. This month, I’m...

Brian Solis Sums It Up Again

In a new blog post, Brian Solis sums up our technology / marketing headaches with social media. “Although the impact of technology on business and consumer behavior was widely reported, in-depth reports on what to do next or how this will affect their business specifically were scant at best. I’m sure you heard it from experts everywhere, “You need a Facebook brand page! Why are you not on Twitter yet? Have you checked-in on Foursquare? Hurry up and get set up on Google+. If you don’t get on social media, you’re going to go out...

The End of Business as Usual

Normally, I don't promote a book that I haven't read yet, but I make an exception for Brian Solis' book, "The End of Business As Usual". I'm compelled to share this book, because I'm a big fan of Brian's brain... his website is full of free and compelling content and his take on business use of social media is incredibly on target. His posts always inspire me to think about technology and online interaction as it relates to our business of service - our customers, our clients and ourselves...

I Live in the Future and Here’s How it Works

I Live in the Future & Here’s How It Works: Why Your World, Work, and Brain Are Being Creatively Disrupted by Nick Bilton. This is a great, quick read that can open your eyes to the speed and power of technology changes, and how it is impacting the way we have to provide service to our potential customers today and tomorrow.  I felt like a dinosaur reading the hard cover book instead of the eBook… but now I can lend it to anyone interested! “Nick Bilton has written a rollicking, upbeat guide to the digital world—a peek...
